Cleveland Ironstone Mining museum
Our Museum offers visitors an opportunity to discover the skills and customs that built Cleveland's Ironstone heritage. It is the only Museum in the UK which tells the story of Ironstone mining; a key part of the local history of the social and industrial development of Cleveland and Teesside.
The Museum today offers visitors an opportunity to experience the underground world of a real ironstone mine and to explore the skills, customs and life of the Cleveland miner. It was these miners that helped make Cleveland the most important Ironstone mining district in Victorian and Edwardian Britain.
If you would like to become a volunteer for the Museum, all training is free of charge, expenses covered and roles include Tour Guides, Shopkeepers, Artefacts and Restoration, Grounds and Building Maintenance, Cleaners and Management Committee Members

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway
The North Yorkshire Moors Railway operates steam trains along an 18 mile line between the market town of Pickering and the village of Grosmont, through the heart of the North York Moors National Park. The railway passes through a variety of scenery, from wooded valley to heather clad moorland. It also calls at picturesque villages along the way and offers access to unspoilt countryside for walkers and cyclists.

Explore the magical recreation of the most amazing natural wonder of the world and dive beneath the bright, awe inspiring phenomenon, which is the Great Barrier Reef. Take the journey through the reef discovering an amazing array of tropical sharks, beautiful rays and colourful coral deep beneath the oceans surface.
The centre offers a full programme of feeding demonstrations and informative talks. There is disabled access throughout the centre which also features a soft play-area, restaurant serving hot and cold food and a gift shop.
